30 Hour Famine :: $955 Raised

We had 13 students participate in our first every 30 Hour Famine and we're thankful to have been able to raise $955 to show children the love of Christ by providing them with the food they need to survive.

The Famine was a great time to draw closer to God, to each other, and to serve those in our community and around the globe in some practical ways. To raise money we did various service projects such as raking lawns, washing windows, and routine maintenance as some local cottages. We also collected and returned many bottles and cans from those within our church body.

During the Famine we were able to collect two car loads of canned goods from the people of the community which were then donated to our local Red Cross food pantry.

Our time together also included a presentation on poverty and injustice issues in Zimbabwe from a local friend who was born there. We learned about the biblical idea and outworking of compassion as well as the type of fast that pleases God by studying Isaiah 58.

We also participated in dramas, some buzzer-style quiz games, and we were blessed to have some international friends cook us an authentic African meal for us to eat after we broke our fast with UNAMIX and juice.
