Love MP Week :: April 7th-13th, 2008
In April 2008 we did our first ever Love Mount Pleasant Week. It was a week devoted to serving the people of this community in practical, compassionate ways. God blessed our time together, so the work was well worth the effort.

Love Mount Pleasant Totals
Financial Totals:
- $5100 raised through the silent auction for the Harsh/Johnson families!
- $1265 raised for world releif efforts through the Race for a Reason!
- $1675 saved on groceries through the Angelfood ministry!
- $1400 donated to purchase 50 AIDS Caregiver Kits to be sent to Africa, Asia, and Latin America!
Service Totals:
- 50 meals served
- 25 senior citizens visited or served
- Significant City Clean Up Effort -Teams extracted over 50 bags of trash from Island Park, Nelson Park, Millpond Park, Chipp-a-Waters Park, the Disc Golf Course on CMU's campus, and a portion of the Downtown Business District
- 100 households in Mt. Pleasant were given hope and resources for dealing with Child Sexual Abuse
- 15 dozen cookies were handed out in various neighborhoods
- 8 Outdoor basketball nets were replaced throughout the city (Northwest Apts, Fancher School)
- 7 yards raked or prepped for the spring
- 3 dogs walked
- 1 broken mailbox repaired
Overall Totals:
- Total Involvement: 275 participants
- Total Time: 961 hours of compassionate service
- Total Funds: $7665.00 raised and distributed
- Total Impact: 707 lives touched around the world

Grace Church has partnered with Angelfood ministries to bring low cost groceries to the people of Mount Pleasant. This is a great opportunity to
distribute high-quality food at a fraction of the cost.
To do this effectively, we are looking to put together 5 teams to go to neighborhoods around the city during Love MP Week. We are excited to announce that over 100 people participated in our first ever "Race for a Reason" which raised $1,763 for underprivileged people groups around the globe. We look forward to doing another one of these races in the future so check back for more info in the spring/summer.
The Compassion
Weekend culminated with our 10:00am Sunday service where we were challenged with a better
understanding of God's heart for the poor as expressed through His Word. During this service
we took a special offering that we be used to help the poor.

- Wading through Chip River and helping with clean-up
- Picking up trash throughout the Community
- Raking yards in the neighborhood
- Various Repairs in Local Trailer Park
- Fixing a leaky roof and a few other practical repairs
- Hosting an International Student during homestay weekend
- Making blankets for Women's Aid
- Singing songs and visiting the elderly at nursing homes
- Hosting a movie night with refreshements for underprivleged kids
- Cleaning the apartment of a disabled resident
